Women’s Aid responds to Mayor of London’s £18m funding to tackle violence against women

Isabelle Younane, Head of Policy, Campaigns and Public Affairs at Women’s Aid, said:

“This is a really welcome investment and a strong statement that the Mayor of London sees violence against women and girls as a top priority. Not only will the funding support women and children who are experiencing abuse, it will also signal to survivors that there is help – they will be listened to, and believed.

At Women’s Aid, we welcome the Mayor’s approach to culture change, with investment in initiatives that tackle misogynistic attitudes. We call for the funding to prioritise specialist domestic abuse services, and include ring-fenced funding for services run by and for Black and minoritised women which provide life-saving support to survivors on a shoestring budget.”
