Women’s Aid 1.7 challenge
An estimated 1.7 million women experience domestic abuse in England and Wales every year. That is 1.7 million too many.
As part of our Come Together to End Domestic Abuse campaign, which aims to promote real societal attitudinal change by demonstrating the impact we can have when we come together, we hold our annual 1.7 fundraising challenge! We asked you to come together with your friends, family or colleagues to move 1.7 miles a day, every day in September for the 1.7 million survivors of domestic abuse every year.
Take on a challenge in September
The challenge is simple – try and complete 1.7 miles a day, every day next September. How you complete it is entirely up to you! You can walk, run, cycle, wheel, static cycle, swim, kayak, hop, skip or jump your daily 1.7 miles but just make sure you complete them every day in September! You can sign up for a solo challenge or come together to create a team of people all completing 1.7 a Day, Your Way together.
Why we need your support
Whilst it is reported that 1.7 million women experience domestic abuse every year, this is only the tip of the iceberg as so many women do not report abuse due to fear or the worry they’ll be judged or not believed. With three women being killed a fortnight by a current or ex-partner, so much needs to change before women are safe. £170 could help 17 women access support through our Live Chat service, and ensure they are met by a trained staff member to support them. Join #TeamWomensAid and move 1.7 miles a day in September to take a stand against domestic abuse. Let’s build a future where domestic abuse is no longer tolerated.
Thank you for taking part in 2022
