‘Women’s Aid stands in solidarity with her more than ever’: our statement on Helen’s trial

Monday 29th August 2016

Polly Neate, Chief Executive of Women’s Aid, said:

“As Helen’s trial approaches, Women’s Aid stands in solidarity with her more than ever. We hope that those involved with Helen’s trial – the judge, the jury – understand coercive control and domestic abuse. We hope that they recognise that her actions were driven by the long-term, insidious abuse she suffered at the hands of Rob. However, we know that many survivors are victim-blamed and undermined, and do not have positive experiences with the criminal justice system. We hope this is not the case for Helen.”
