This course will give you an introduction to domestic abuse which you will be able to build on in order to work in the domestic and sexual abuse/violence sector.

Did an experience of a friend, family member or even yourself influence you to want to help and support others?

This course is designed for those interested in domestic abuse and considering working as a volunteer or professional in the domestic and sexual abuse/violence sector.

Trainer profile:

Saphra Ross

Saphra has over 10 years’ experience in violence against women and girls and women’s rights. She has supported young survivors of domestic and sexual abuse through her work in Children’s Services, as well as BME women and children in refuge at BAWSO in Wales. Saphra supported the development of projects and events for women and delivered and facilitated training at NUS and NUS Wales as part of their Women’s Campaigns. Saphra practiced Criminal and Family Law in the USA through which she also provided counselling and support to women survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence.

In her current role, Saphra uses her experience in the domestic and sexual abuse sector and in women’s rights as a trainer for Women’s Aid National Training Centre.
