Child to parent violence: skills, tools and awareness (CPD course)

This is an informative course that will Increase your understanding of the reasons that Child to Parent Violence (CPV) may arise. The course will address and dispel the myths surrounding CPV as well as explore approaches to working with parents who are experiencing CPV. All attendees will gain practical tips & tools that are necessary in supporting parents who are experiencing Child to Parent Violence.

What does the course cover?

• An introduction to CPV including national context
• An overview of the Who’s in Charge? Approach
• How to identify CPV as opposed to other forms of familial and domestic abuse
• How to discuss CPV in the face of shame & embarrassment
• The impact of differing parenting styles for parents of uncooperative children
• Supporting parents to develop creative consequences
• How to empower parents.

Cathy is a MBACP Snr. Accredited Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor working in private practice, specializing in domestic and sexual violence & trauma related issues for over 20 years, having spent many years working as Clinical Lead/Service Manager for several Women’s Aid organisations across East Anglia.

Cathy regularly runs facilitator training across the UK for the Freedom Programme; Who’s in Charge? Programme (Child to Parent Violence & Abuse); Stronger Families Programme (Recovery after DA for mothers & children) and the Escape the Trap programme (Teenage Relationship Abuse) which Cathy developed in 2013.
