With your amazing donations and support, we’ve reached our £200,000 target to keep our digital services running to #SupportSurvivors. Thank you for making sure that these services, including Live Chat, can remain open.

But, since Covid-19, we have experienced a huge surge in demand for our services. Survivors need us now, even more than they did when we launched this appeal.

Please donate today to #SupportSurvivors.

Original target: 200,000£
Total raised: 278,158.73£

We want to be able to respond to every woman in need who reaches out to us

Thanks to a generous donation from Pantene, we’ve doubled our Live Chat opening hours.

The Women’s Aid Live Chat is now open Monday to Friday 10:00am – 4:00pm, Saturday and Sunday 10:00am-12:00pm.

But we don’t know how long this crisis will continue or how many more women will need our services in the coming months.

Within the first two weeks of lockdown, we saw a 41% increase in users visiting our Live Chat page and we expect this demand to rise.

We need your support to be able to maintain these longer open hours to support the huge amount of survivors who need us now, while their homes are not safe places to be. We need to #SupportSurvivors even more during this crisis.

What can you do to #SupportSurvivors and help fund our digital services?

We’re asking you to pledge your own challenge to #SupportSurvivors. Do that little bit extra for those who have nowhere else to turn.

Before Covid-19, the Women’s Aid Live Chat was already a vital lifeline for women who cannot find the words or are unsure whether they are experiencing abuse. But this support is now needed more than ever.

Home is not a safe place for women living with abuse. Due to Covid-19, many women are now trapped inside with their perpetrators. By setting yourself a challenge and getting sponsored by your friends and family, you will be ensuring that every woman can access the support she needs, even when she cannot leave the house.

Each chat between a survivor and Women’s Aid expert support worker costs roughly £5. We suggest a £5 donation from each sponsorship. For the price of the bus to work or a morning coffee pre-Covid, each sponsor could support one woman trapped with abuse.

Your donation could…

Support women who are reaching out for the first time

For 70.3% of women who used Live Chat, this was the first time they had contacted Women’s Aid.

Help women get the support they need

Due to a lack of funding, we urgently need your donations for this vital service to stay open.

Give women a faster response at a critical time

There is currently a 23 minute average wait time for women wanting to chat.

Why is our Live Chat so vital?

For those who can’t find the words, are unsure whether they’re experiencing abuse or who struggle to get the help when they need, Live Chat can be their first steps to freedom.

  • It can provide early advice, validation and support.
  • It can be accessed anywhere, discreetly and privately.
  • For survivors from marginalised groups, including those with learning difficulties or language barriers, it can be a lifeline.
