HMICFRS is the inspectorate of constabulary and fire and rescue services, who inspect the performance of police forces and fire and rescue services in England and Wales and publish its findings to the public.
They are seeking participants to interview this August for a report on the abuse of position for a sexual purpose. This is:
“Any behaviour by a police officer or police staff member, whether on or off duty, that takes advantage of their position as a member of the police service to misuse their position, authority or powers in order to pursue a sexual or improper emotional relationship with any member of the public.”
They are wanting to speak with survivors who have a lived experience of the abuse of position for sexual purpose and there has been a police investigation into this abuse. The case needs to have concluded, and either the abuse or the subsequent investigation must have occurred in the last five years.
They are seeking up to ten participants, who can be from any part of England and Wales. They can be supported with the interview process via Women’s Aid networks. HMICFRS will travel to a local premise to conduct the interview and will cover any travel expenses.
If you are survivor who would like to register your interest in taking part please also contact direct: Angela Marinari, Inspection Officer, Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS):
