Our response to Lancashire Police and Crime Commissioner’s decision on its specialist domestic abuse services
Tuesday 20th December 2016
Polly Neate, Chief Executive of Women’s Aid, said:
“Women’s Aid is aware of the recent process to re-commission domestic abuse services in Lancashire. Survivors of domestic abuse need expert support from specialist services in order to begin to recover from their experiences and regain independence.
“Local charities that have grown up in response to the needs of their local communities, and have a deep understanding of survivors’ experiences, gained over many years, are a vital part of the voluntary sector. They bring a value far beyond the simple price of a contract.
“We are supporting the local specialist domestic abuse services in Lancashire, and are investigating the type and level of support that can be provided when the new contract is awarded. We will be monitoring this situation closely and are willing to work with commissioners, our members and any other involved services, to ensure the best possible outcomes for survivors and their children.”
