I wrote this poem after I was transferred from Mainstream School into Special Education School. I was becoming aware of feeling different. I felt different and no good.
I have experienced communication barriers with Social Services. Initially they did not believe I had been assaulted sexually by a taxi driver. When the police were able to confirm the incident me and my family were listened to. We still experienced break down in communication between organisations. My parents contacted our local MP who listened and supported us through a system of Care that we were finding hard to navigate.
I am a leaf
I am a leaf
I’ve fallen to the ground.
One side is brown
and the other is green.
If you walk over me, I go
crunch- crunch- crunch.
I would like to say on
my friends’ behalf-
‘We do not like
being walked over.’
