During COVID-19 lockdown, women and children trapped with abuse need our help. Our services could be a woman’s only access to support and it has never been more important that we keep them running.
That’s why we want you to challenge yourself to #SupportSurvivors.
We know that lockdown can be difficult for families trying to keep lively children occupied, for sporty people who rely on being active and for those of us who love to socialise. By joining in on our virtual appeal, you can set yourself a fun, lockdown-safe challenge, get sponsored to do it and support survivors at the same time.
Here are some ideas to get you started!
Team Stay-at-Home Ascent of Mount Kilimanjaro
The amazing Debra, Penny and Sian are taking on a colossal challenge; they’re climbing the height of Mount Kilimanjaro using only the stairs in their house. This may seem like a mighty challenge in itself, but the team are aiming high with their fundraising too – they want to raise £1,050 to #SupportSurvivors of domestic abuse.
Here’s what they have to say about their huge challenge:
“We’re doing this to raise funds so the Women’s Aid digital services can stay open. Before Covid-19, the Women’s Aid Live Chat was already a vital lifeline for women who couldn’t find the words or were unsure whether they are experiencing abuse.
For some inexplicable reason… the way that we want to do this is by making a team ascent of Mount Kilimanjaro in under 7 days, using the stairs in our house – hope the carpet survives! We’ll be climbing 38,680 steps as a team. That’s just over 1,074 times up the stairs, equivalent to the 5,895m of Mount Kili (gulp…).”
