Domestic abuse is a national emergency.
We have been taught to wear a seatbelt and ‘Think!’ when we’re on the roads. We know how to keep our homes safe from smoke and fire and what to do if the worst does happen.
But did you know if you’re a woman, you’re more likely to be killed by your partner than by smoke or from not wearing your seatbelt.
Domestic abuse is the national emergency we’re ignoring, and it is time to pay attention. At least one woman a week is killed by their current or former partner. Despite the urgency and severity of this situation, it is not being treated as a priority and more survivors are looking to us every day for support.
This winter we’re asking you to help us save lives by donating to our national emergency appeal.
Women’s Aid has been working for 50 years to offer meaningful, trauma-informed support to survivors, to prevent abuse and to challenge the sexist myths that enable violence against women and girls. Our services are a lifeline to countless women and children, but we can’t respond to this emergency alone. We need everyone to join forces and #EndAbuseTogether, for good.
We’ve partnered with House 337 to create powerful films to raise awareness of the national emergency. Watch the films here:
