#CandleforClaire: Mother’s Day ‘Child First’ Vigil

Friday 4th March

This Mother’s Day (6th March), Women’s Aid is calling on all supporters to light a candle in memory of Jack and Paul, the sons of Child First spokeswoman Claire Throssell.

After lighting the candle, Women’s Aid is asking supporters to tweet, share or post the picture with the hashtag #CandleforClaire, as well as the supporting hashtags #ChildFirst and #rememberjackandpaul. Women’s Aid is then calling on all supporters to sign and share the Child First petition. If supporters are unable to take a picture or light a candle, Women’s Aid is encouraging them to still join in #CandleforClaire to show their support. A vigil is also being held in Claire Throssell’s local community on Mother’s Day, but #CandleforClaire means that supporters from all over the country can participate.

Claire said:

“I want to honour the memory of my beautiful boys, and help protect other children. The online vigil and the vigil in my community will help keep the boys memory alive, and raise awareness about unsafe child contact. I want to help protect other children so my boys did not die in vain.”

Polly Neate, Chief Executive of Women’s Aid, said:

“Women’s Aid are honoured to work with Claire, and to be supporting the memory of Jack and Paul. Please join in the vigil, and sign the Child First petition to help us make sure that no more children are killed though unsafe child contact with perpetrators of domestic abuse.”
