AVON and Women's Aid Empowering Women Awards 2010
In association with Marie Claire
Avon and Women's Aid have come together to create the Empowering Women Awards as a platform to celebrate the amazing achievements and incredible bravery of women who have either been affected by domestic violence themselves, or who are working tirelessly in the field to support those who have experienced abuse.
The Awards aim to empower women by recognising their achievements, and are open to inspirational women from all walks of life who are affected by domestic abuse.
The Awards categories are:
Woman Survivor of the Year – awarded to a woman survivor of domestic violence who has inspired others.
Marie Claire Campaigner Against Domestic Violence – awarded to a woman who is committed to campaigning against domestic violence and is working to make a difference for the future.
Grass Roots Hero – a volunteer who goes beyond the call of duty to help survivors in need of support. The winner will be able to nominate a charitable project, of their choice, that makes a difference to those who have suffered or are suffering from the effects of domestic violence, to receive a £10,000 donation. The nominated project must demonstrate how the cash injection donation will be utilised.
The winners will be chosen by a specially selected panel of judges made up of some of the most high-profile and inspirational women in the country.
