Women’s Aid Manifesto Pledge for the Police and Crime Commissioners 25.09.12
This Manifesto is informed by Women’s Aid work with the national network of domestic and sexual violence services in England. We are all keen to work with the incoming Police and Crime Commissioners to reduce crime and to increase community safety through effectively tackling violence against women.
We are asking all candidates to pledge their support for the following:
- Take action to deliver safe and effective service responses and protection for adult and child survivors in local areas; provide appropriate leadership and partnership working to achieve this.
- Allocate adequate resources to local specialist services for domestic and sexual violence, rape, forced marriage and honour based violence, female genital mutilation/cutting, sexual harassment; including women-only service provision and accredited prevention work with perpetrators whether convicted or not;
- Work with local specialist violence against women organisations to cut the crime associated with domestic and sexual violence.
- Consult with adult and child victims when setting local policing priorities.
